can some one pls point me to a link for the
mass definition of an assault weapon.
i'm trying to get a signoff on a form 1 and got grief about
a spare mag carrier, on the gun. the officer interpreted that as
a feeding device, outside the pistol grip. i tried to explain that if it isn't
feeding the gun, it's not a feeding device, but felt like i was going nowhere w/ it

thx

Can't you just take the crap off the gun and then bring it back? So you're telling me they made you show them pictures of the SBR/receiver? [thinking] That's just bizarre.

FYI, the "magazine ... outside the pistol grip" only applies to pistols, but here ya go...

thank you
yes, the firearms officer has not done a form 1 before
so he started asking me questions, i didn't think anything of
the spare carrier, so i told him, i did say it was an option that i can
exlcude when i order the stock. but he still balked at it.
reading above, shows he was reading the pistol definition, but
w/ a form 1 it will be a rifle, so that does not matter.
i'll call him on tuesday, and go over it again w/ him

still getting yanked around by him. called on friday, he was
supposed to call me back in the afternoon, never heard from him
i will be calling him on monday. i will look into the trust route also,
was hoping to just get the form signed

that's been getting thrown around for awhile, not holding my breath
still getting donkey'd around by the pd, going there tomorrow
will either get my signatures, or create a trust. been 2 weeks +
very frustrating

A Form 1 is done before the item is built, so how can you show something that should not exist until the form 1 is returned ?

the po read the definition of an assault weapon to me,
he didn't stop where it changes from rifle to pistol to shotgun
he told me he wasn't familiar with the process, but this is ridiculus
going to see him today, if it's not signed, i'm going the trust route
my first 2 were a piece of cake, not this, almost makes me not want to do it,
almost,

What about consulting with an attorney and having him make friendly call to the LEO? Might be a bit cheaper, and quicker, that the trust route.

doubt it would be cheaper. there are do it your self trust kit
i'm guessing would be cheaper than an attorney
i'm giving them until the end of next week. but i will look
into the trust kits online

FYI the mag outside of the grip was supposed to refer to an actual magazine well not inside the grip. Like an external magwell on a tec 9. It was not supposed to be for a magazine carrier attached to a pistol Iirc.

i know this, and you know this, and almost everyone on this board knows this
but the firearms officer didn't know this.
scary, isn't it

Keep us posted as I think I may be going this route in a few months as I have an MP5 clone being built and should be here by the end of the month and I don''t really like the fake suppressor that is pinned on the end of it to reach the 16" barrel length. I talked to the guy building it and he said it can be removed in about 15 min with house hold tools.

Do you know who you are going to use to engrave it for you yet?

I hope you bought it from DJ. If so, you are in for a treat!

Yes I did. I had been contemplating trying to build my own from a flat, but the head spacing and welding everything was just a little bit more than I would be capable of. I take it you have one of DJF's too?

I do. I picked up one of his MP5K rifle builds and it is top notch. His customer service is beyond what I have seen from anyone else in the industry.

Can't wait to put in my forms and chop the extension off!

i'm going to have zero hour arms do the engraving. they share the building w/
a machine shop, they did the last 2 for me, i think 40 or so, i honestly don't remember
as time gets closer, i'll double check w/ them
