Hmm... Have to love it when the gunshop knows NOT what they have.

So, I had the salesman at Cabela's write up the rifle tagged as "M27 (91/30)" for the $375 asking price, and sent him back to the decision makers to find out how much less they could take if I bought it today. At the register, the clerk rung it up as "On Sale" for $249.99. She signed me up for the Club Card for an additional $20 off.

So, with tax and the discount, I walked out of the store with my new 1935 Sako M28/30 (without the front stock reinforcing bolt?) for the grand sum of $242.99. Not a bad haul. And certainly NOT an M27(91-30).

Excuse the poor pics with my old camera, please. I'll get some better ones later. Thanks for looking.

It's a Finn-made one piece stock with no reinforcing bolt in the forestock. What's up with that?

Cheers.

Yet another outstanding addition to your collection and at a price which brings us back to the days when firearm prices were more down to earth.

One question however, how did you not stop yourself form screaming YES in the parking lot for scoring that with a HV mag for such a great price.
Congats buddy.
One interesting and beautiful rifle.

Very nice Martin, and really nice condition. The M27(91/30) tag almost beats what was written on the tag of the M27 I sold you. That just had "?" written on the tag. LOL. Their lose is our gain. :)

PS. I had no idea there was haggle room at Cabellas. I have much to learn from you.

Oh, there was a celebration (in the car)! Just not loud enough for the gun counter employees to hear.

Never hurts to ask, Niner. I was willing to pay the $375, truth be known. But when the stock number was run, it showed that it was on sale. I'll take that news any day!

Not sure if the circle mark in the right grasping groove is the SYT stamp, or not? Two of the round marks on the right buttstock are plugs, and one is the infamous "round mark". The back of the buttplate is stamped 88. No stamps on the top of the buttplate. The barrel color doesn't come through well, but it has the nice plum hue of the improved Finn steel.

Got it home last night and took a few pics with the good camera until the batteries died. Will have some more after it gets light outside, today. Enjoy.

That is a nice SKY. I haven't come across anything other than the basic Mosins. None of the ones I have seen in Cabela's were anything special. I also have never had them negotiate on a price. They did advertise them on sale though. It's nice they didn't realize it wasn't a run of the mill Mosin.

I had that rifle in my hands in late July at Cabelas, but I was days away from PCSing overseas and decided against it.
