I was suggested by someone to look into trying to renew my LTC Class A ALP through a city I work in since the one I live in will most likely restrict my LTC to "target and hunting".
Is this possible?
Can you have 2 LTC's?
Think it's worth a shot, would I still need to renew where I live reguardless [sic] ? Can you have 2 LTC's?
What part of "business owner" did you miss?
See, the thing is I have a Class A LTC ALP already, have since moved to an unfriendly 2nd Amendment city
Did you even do this?
A holder of an FID Card or an LTC must notify, in writing, the licensing authority that issued the Card or License, the chief of police into whose jurisdiction the Card or License holder moves, and the Executive Director of the CHSB. The notice must be made by certified mail within 30 days of its occurrence.
The law ALLOWS a BUSINESS OWNER (NOT employee) to get their LTC in the city/town they own the business in, HOWEVER being a "discretionary issue" I am aware that MOST (if not all) chiefs will REFUSE to issue a LTC anywhere in MA unless you live there! Their reasoning is "if YOUR chief won't trust you to carry, why should I do so and buck your chief's discretion"!
My buddy had his LTC (ALP) issued in the town where he owns a business, not where he lives. However, his business repairs the town PD's vehicles and the PD has known his family for decades. I guess that helps.
"Owns a business" being the operative term. As that is one of the statutory requirements, the issuance is not that unusual.

I don't know about "MOST (if not all) chiefs" refusing to issue to business owners.
My source of that info (Most/many) is "from the inside" and includes many discussions amongst chiefs/licensing officers of which I am aware . . . the consensus is "let the chief in the town of residence do it ONLY".
Brainwashing doesn't only happen in the school systems (including colleges)!
If a C.O.P refuses to grant a LTC because he doesn't want to step on the toes of another C.O.P, why then would he want to do it going the other way? Why would he downgrade an LTC granted by another COP? But I bet it happens.
Hypocrisy at its utmost.
If you have a class A, you're grandfathered in. You won't have a problem where you are moving (I've ben through the process there). Call the station and ask for the person who handles permits and make an appointment. Bring all the stuff you need, fill out the paperwork. You'll be OK.
Nah, I don't think you have to worry if someone sees you loading it in NH... they're more intelligent than that up there....what a mess.[sad2]
So, if my LTC gets restricted in MA, can I still carry in NH? What do I have to do, carry it in a locked box on the way to NH, then hope no one sees me loading it and putting in in a holster when I get there?
This is getting friggin' ridiculous.
