I read about this round years ago. I forgot the specs, but the barrel had eroded after less than a dozen shots, IIRC.

I saw a similar round to it. I mean the dimensions weren't as extreme. I believe it was a handgun round with a small needle-like tip like a .17hmr on a .500 is shell casing. I wish I wrote down what the round was called. I mean it's a manufactured round. I'm curious if it has the same issues.

Any chance you're thinking about the .17-357 RG? The base cartridge is a .357SIG necked down to a .17 projectile.
