Looking at semi-auto rifles in the C&R category.

What else is along the lines of either the SVT40 and the FN49? Both are pretty hard to find and good examples are pricey to say the least.

Depends on how you define "along the lines of ".....

Some other collectible milsurp semi's (that you can find) include:

Czech Vz-52 (7.62x45)
M-1 Garand (.30-06)
M-1 Carbine (.30 Carbine)
MAS 49 (7.5 French)
MAS 49/56 (7.5 French)
AG-42 Ljungman (6.5 Swedish)
Egyptian Hakim (8mm Mauser)
Egyptian Rasheed (7.62x39)
SKS (7.62x39)

There are others, of course. You could venture into the German semi's and pay big bucks, and there are alot of rare types that are nearly impossible to find. But the above are regularly found on gunbroker, auctionarms, and other vendors, as well as gun shops and gun shows.

Good luck in your search!

Thanks folks. Got a yugo sks. Shoots great but it is awfully front heavy.

Had a M1 Carbine but for some reason it didn't quite like it, maybe the stock was too 'fat'? Not sure but I sold it away even before shooting it. It was nice and light though.

Garand? I've handled a few but not shot any. It's a beast for size and weight.

Well, if the SKS is too front heavy, and the M-1 Carbine is too fat, you may be out of luck. I don't know of any milsurp semi's that are smaller and lighter, at least that are readily available.
