Hello Friends,

I have an Ariska Imperial Japanese Army rifle from WWII. Out of curiosity I measured the length of the weapon from the muzzle to the end of the stock and it was 44 inches. Everything I'm reading says it is supposed to be 50".

Am I measuring the weapon incorrectly or is this not an Arisaka Type 99?

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Navy Moose

Thank you for the information.

When I measured the barrel, I got 25", I measured from the muzzle to around the rear sight. Is this the correct way to measure the barrel length?

Here's a good on-line reference for both rifles:

T-99

T-38

Check out the "specifications" tab near the top of the page for date on barrel length, etc.

Thank you for the links. Those links is where I found the length of the Type 99 and this is why I asked my initial question concerning the length of the weapon and then the length of the barrel. Given the responses here, it makes me suspicious of the specifications listed.

Yup, I think you may have discovered what we call a "website error."
