And how long does it take to get all the requisite permits, how long to get the machinery made (I doubt there's ammunition maker-makers with inventory just sitting around), how long to find a competent workforce, etc. etc.?
If the shortage is dominated by short term issues, it's a losing proposition to build a new factory. Plus, any vendor that was big enough to meaningfully shift the supply curve would risk lowering the market price by stimulating competition.
I'd be curious to know what their staffing was this time in 2012. I'm just curious how much of the 140 odd layoffs are really people just hired for the panic of the last 2 years.
