Larue handguards on MA legal Bushmaster AR-15

If you look at their instruction page (#4) it will give you an idea on the size of the hole the muzzle device will have to fit through. I bet it would go on no problem, but their instructions say to remove the flash hider/muzzle device.

I was hoping someone here could give me a definitive answer. This video, http://216.23.214.70/pics/handguard_video_0001.wmv says you need to remove the flash hider/compensator to install their handguards. Since a MA legal Bushy has a welded on compensator am I SOL?

Thanks in advance.

Two options...

1) Grind the original muzzle brake off (Bushmaster used to use the welded blind pin method... I don't know if they currently use a different method), install handguard, buy new muzzle brake and permently attach.

2) (do you need/want a free floating unit?). Buy a two-piece mounting system and save yourself the added hassles and cost.

Surefire makes a nice two-piece unit (non-free floating), that locks up real tight.

That's not the problem. The muzzle device needs to be removed so the front sight tower can be taken off.

Midwest makes great stuff for the money But when comes to railed handguards Knights gets my money

I installed the LaRue FF rails, they are great and fun to install[smile]

Seriously, you would have to cut the FH off and bang the hell out of the drifft pins to get the FSB off.You are better off getting a KAC,I had one of those as well and they are great.

I used a Troy MRF-C. It did not require the removal of the FSB or muzzle device, but you do have to take off the delta ring. It went on very easy and is a nice unit.
