It's time for Baker or Cahill to take a stand on the Second Amendment.

I contacted both, a while ago, and received the same generic response: "I stand for the constitution, gun rights, hunting tradition[rolleyes], blah, blah, blah, blah, blah! I call [bs1] ! Don't ask me...I couldn't tell you where they stand...[frown]

For some reason, I don't trust Baker. We will see what response we get from them. In my mind it is a race between the two. Deval really shot himself in the foot with this casino bill. Even his biggest butt kisser's, I mean supporters, in the legislation are separating themselves from him.

I asked Tim:
"Regarding Gun Control, where do you stand? EXACTLY, not some wishy-washy statement; I am so tired of that from politicians.

I currently stand at (0% Patrick) (30% Baker) (30% Cahill) and (40% Undecided) in my expected vote."

I got back:
"Regarding your question on the Second Amendment; Treasurer Cahill strongly supports the right of citizens to bear arms. That being said he does also support some reasonable restrictions to help keep guns out of the wrong hands such as child safety locks and mandatory background checks."

THE SAME THING THAT IS ON THEIR WEB SITE [angry]

They also said "I hope this answered your question"

I'll reply and tell them no it did not and give some examples, and see what I get.

I HATE POLITICIANS

On not trusting Baker - I don't trust any politican, after the last 5 years, I don't now how anyone can.

I can easily see how frustrating it can be when you get those generic answers. Not trying to crap up this thread, but that's the reason why I'm backing Jamison Tomasek in the Republican primary in my district. If you go to his web page he is specific in his 2A stance and is a supporter of H2259.

We need straight answers not rhetoric but I guess you won't see it, at least not pubicly.

Charlie Baker promised me Saturday evening that he and his staff would be answering GOAL's questionnaire on this Monday.

Waiting with baited breath. [wink]

Maybe the test should be a test of fire(power)! Let's see which of them will show up for, and shoot, a CMP match and be willing to be photographed with rifle and target.

A true 2A supporter should have no problem with that.

Check one off the list, just received Tim Cahill's questionnaire, he scored a 98%.

Waiting on Mr. Baker.

This was my email to Charlie Baker:

>> What is your position on gun control, the second amendment and this state's current gun laws and enforcement of them?

Do you support an individuals right to have and carry a gun?
Do you support a person's right to use a gun in defense of themselves, others, and their property?

If elected Governor, will you push to put more restrictions on honest citizens by making more gun control laws or would you help eliminate some of the cumbersome and discretionary policies we have in place now?

Here is his response:
Dear Debra,

Thank you for taking the time to send me your question.

I support the second amendment and I believe the state needs to do a better job of enforcing the laws that we have, and treating the commission of a crime with a gun as the serious offense that it is. The state must spend more time prosecuting the criminals with guns and less time on the responsible gun owners.

I appreciate your taking the time to send me your thoughts on this issue and I encourage you to continue to send me your ideas in the months to come. Please continue to monitor my website for additional information about my policies. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Charlie

Not exactly as strong as some of would like I am sure.
Now we need to hold his feet to the fire if he is elected.

I got a copy of that same response from Baker, at least we got a response, he doesn't even have it (2A) mentioned on his site.

I am waiting for his response to GOAL questionaire also, currently Cahill is in the lead at 40% of how I would vote today.

I got the same message word for word. A pre-witten script.

Not impressed with the message from either that I recieved. Niether seems to be strong on the subject.[angry]

He doesn't care about us. He's running on the "So what if my answer sucks? What are you doing to do, vote for Deval?" platform. [thinking]

-Mike

Just remember a Vote for Cahill is a vote for Deval. Cahill is jumping on the greande to take votes away from Baker. Then when Deval wins, Cahill will be taken care of by the Democrat Party with a nice soft well paid job.
Don't be fooled we all have to sopport Charlie Baker.....he sucks less.

I emailed both and still haven't gotten a response... politics are afraid of the 2A...automobile deaths have been greater then firearms related deaths 2years in a row. Obama sucks too he was all about creating jobs but then turns around and says he wants to shut down gun factories and gun stores over more then half and how many people would be out of a job them? They are all two-faced and none of them have any of my trust...I trust you guys on this site more then any of them and I only know four people on this site. What we need to do is get someone on this site into politics and everyone toss in money and all of our votes should be enough to make a difference or at least big enough they can't ignore it. I will update you guys when i get a response from either.

CaptDan3: I hear what you are saying but I CANNOT HOLD MY NOSE AND VOTER FOR SOMEONE WHO SUCKS LESS ANYMORE. I hope the GOP, DEMS and everyone else heard that.

After Bush I with 'Read my lips'
and Clinton with NAFTA, the retro active tax increase,
and Bush II with Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind, and damn near Amnesty,
and Obama with Socialize everything and spread the wealth around.

(While not having voted for Clinton or Obama)
THEY ALL SUCK EGGS. If candidates running against each other suck equally, I'll vote for Mickey Mouse first.

While I'm not sure about Cahill, he appears to be the most forthcoming so far. Patrick is still at 0%, Baker is at 30% and Cahill is at 40% of my likely vote. I'll be looking harder at Cahill to see if he can get me to 50% as I need at least that to vote 'for' anyone.

Well, we all have our opinions so here's mine. I simply refuse to cast my vote for Patrick or Cahill. I will not waste a vote that might help push Devil Patrick out onto the street. Baker will definately get my vote.

Not running for Governor, but...

I certainly appreciate where you're coming from, but would like to remind you that there are some other statewide candidates -- such as myself -- who have taken bold positions on the Second Amendment:

Same old mumbo jumbo

Listened to the rko thing and Baker sounds like most of them, right to bear arms, uphold some of the laws we already have, guns for hunting sporting, etc.
Nothing about self defense, nothing about doing away with some of the idiot laws we have now like trigger locks, and Chief of Police abuse for permits. Lowering the price for permits, and the list goes on and on. Same old same old Mass politician in it for himself crap. When he gets in office he will go with the Cambridge flow. At least we won't have to look at Duval's face anymore. Unless of course he's in the WH.

Understand that the Gov, no matter who he/she is, does NOT get to create laws. Most of what you (1littlegiz) stated would be great to have, BUT the legistraitors are the only ones that can make that happen. The Gov only gets to sign/veto/ignore whatever the legistraitors pass! So anyone running for Gov who promises us to do this and that is just blowing smoke up our posteriors! Just keep that in mind when judging who is with us and who is against us.

This is true. But, it sure would be nice to have a Pro 2-A governor just in case a nice piece of legislation like H2259 ended up on his desk. Can you imagine the Devil signing that into law?

I sent a message to Charlie last week, and got zero response. I have to agree with Capt Dan. Cahill is a vote for Patrick. A Baker vote is really the only way to go. If our rights get anymore wittled away as they are already, maybe a move to NH is in order.

Cahill is clearly not a serious second amendment supporter. His stance honestly reminds me of Obama's or Pelosi's. i.e. I'll say I support the amendment to shield me from opposition while I'll happily sell your rights down the river the second it suits my goals to do so.

I wont be there to vote In November, but I urge any 2A advocate to take any supposed "support" with a giant POUND of salt.

Sorry guys and Gals, but your state sucks. Short of a revolution, you're screwed. My best advice is to move, not just vote to no purpose. -My 2cents from a man who has tried with ZERO success to work within the system in the commiewealth for eight long, useless years of frustration.

Wait, I thought GOAL gave him a 98% rating, which is almost as good as it gets. What am I missing here? Are their ratings off?

You gotta remember though that whatever Cahill said to GOAL was out of the side of his mouth. He is a shill for Patrick. Keep your eye on the brass ring and don't let this guy distract you. Jus' sayin'
