http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2010/02/anti-gun_group_says_gun_laws_i.html

John Rosenthal, president of the advocacy group Stop Handgun Violence, said Massachusetts gun laws are a model for the rest of the country, and it is no coincidence the state has among the lowest per-capita gun deaths per year. "Our gun laws work, he said.

Rosenthal, who is a gun owner, said he frequently hears from other gun owners about the burden of Massachusetts gun laws, but he doesn't put much stock in it.

^^ this quote made me scratch my head. Great anyone can get a license but they may or may not need to belong to a club, have a doctor sign off, be forced into a heavily restricted license or any number of thing.

I were to generalize my issues with mass laws pertaining to myself I would list them as follows

1.) licensing irregularities: I don't want to loose my rights just because I choose to move to a different town.

2.) AG consumer safety regs: All of the loaded chamber indicators in the world wont stop the morons from shooting themselves.

3.) Clarity of the laws: I want to be able to read and clearly understand them without having to consult a lawyer who will then reference case law and get me my answer after I pay them.

This guy sounds like the FUDD to end all FUDDs.

"Any lawful gun owner can get any firearm they want to get. All they have to do is apply for an FID card, get trained and pass a background check," he said.

- Incredibly incorrect. I want to own a Ruger LCR, I can't buy it from a store. I want to own a SA 1911, can't buy that from a store either. What about the requirements for letters of reference, doctors notes, qualifying with a gun that isn't yours.

"The only way to know if a terrorist or criminal is exploiting our gun laws is to require background checks."

- What kind of jackass truthfully thinks a terrorist or criminal is going to get a firearm through the same process that law abiding citizens do?

I also tend to find the argument among people like this that "states that border us have weak gun laws, so criminals get their gun there then come here and cause gun crime." Well, why not turn the tables make it EASIER for citizens HERE to buy guns and in turn drive the criminals away into other states. Am I correct that their logic would lead to a situation like this? Looser MA gun laws would drive criminal activity to other states with tougher gun laws (NJ and NY)?

Rosenthal, who has already bought all the guns he wants to own, doesn't care about one gun a month law and other purchasing restrictions.
Rosenthal, who is a friend of the governor, isn't worried about COPs abusing their issuing authority.
Rosenthal, who puts his name in the paper every chance he gets, doesn't understand why anyone would object to having to choose between gun ownership and privacy.

I get that most people's definition of normal is based on themselves. It's an easy thing to fall into. I just with those people could stop demanding that everyone else conform to their style of normal.

Rosenthal is a hypocrite, elitist, Fudd, and generally slimy human being less honorable than a politician. I'm not sure why we keep getting threads here about him. I'm surprised at the number of gun owners in this state that don't know about him, and I'm disgusted that ANY sportsman's club in this state has accepted his membership.

This guy is a gigantic chunk of "the problem," as is anyone giving him or his platform anything to stand on (yes, you, whichever so-far-unnamed sportsman's club who's seen fit to give this tool a membership).

How about a new platform on which to stand? Perhaps some nice nuclear waste? A filled bathtub as we toss him a free toaster?

You realize he's the owner of the notorious 'gunshow' billboard on the Pike. IF Rosenthal even OWNES a gun (which I have my doubts) then he's the Fuddiest Fudd of all Fudds.

Saying Rosenthal is a fudd gives fudds a bad name, he is way beyond a hunter who doesn't give a rats ass about gun laws that don't impact rabbit hunting.

Oh, you know he owns a handgun! Either that or he has a high priced bodyguard. These leftist, socialist people always have a way around the laws they endorse/enforce. Notice that not one senator that voted for Obamacare would be effected? None of the reps. in Chicago would be effected by their gun legislation either. They IMPOSE laws on other and finds ways to take care of themselves.
