I'm woke....

The Goose's Disclaimer:
First and foremost if you want something I am selling then say “I will take it”. I do not consider questions or inquiries as a commitment of any sort. Terms like “I am interested” mean nothing. The fact that we may be having a dialogue does not mean that I am waiting for you to make a decision. The person who steps up and says “I will take it, when do we meet” closes the deal.

• I expect you to read the ad. Every single time I sell anything I get at least one and usually multiple questions about something that is already stated in the ad. Yes it has a 5” barrel AS STATED IN THE FREAKIN” AD!

• I expect YOU to know that you want the item. I am not a store. Do your own research and visit a gun shop if you just want to handle a particular gun. And no I will not meet you at your club so you can try it out to see if you like it. Of course you get to inspect the gun before you buy it, but barring a mechanical or condition issue I expect you to buy it. If you are not sure then do not waste my time. I once met a prospective buyer at the range so that he could try out a revolver I was selling. After trying it out and BSing for more then an hour he simply said that it just did not fit his hand right. WTF!

• If you want to negotiate that is fine, but do not start out by telling me that my price is too high. This is not a good way to make friends and influence people. I have never made a dime on any private sale ever. In fact I routinely lose money and have often cut deals for a friend. I may be asking more then you want to pay, but the price is never too high. Also as stated in the first item above I do not consider negotiating a form of commitment. If you are in the process of offering less then I am asking and someone else says “I will take it” then you lose. Don’t bitch at me.

• I reserve the right to sell to whoever the hell I want. Having said that I scrupulously sell to the first person who makes a firm commitment. Provided that person does not piss me off. Such as demanding that the transaction take place that day, when it does not work for me. Also do not assume that just because you are the first person to post a reply on the forum that you are also the first person to contact me directly. Not everyone posts a reply, some folks just PM an “I will take it”. I am not obligated to justify anything to some guy I have never met who demands to know why he did not get the deal when he believes he was the first in line. You may also rest assured that if you take that tack that you will also not be first in line if the initial deal falls through.

• Do not ask me if it is MA compliant. Actually, feel free to ask me, but if you are depending upon my answer without doing your own research then you should not even be participating in a private transaction. Do your own damn research.

• Do not agree to a deal on line and then offer me less when we meet. If that happens the deal is over, no matter what. A deal is a deal. The time to negotiate is during the initial transaction, once the deal is made that’s it.
This should be a sticky!

Grrrrr. The ejection seat is on a delay to allow the canopy to clear before they are fired. Typical Hollywood BS.

Top Gun = Worst movie ever.
Having shared a hangar at NAS Miramar in the 70s with TOPGUN (the way it's really spelled), I watched the movie and realized as I watched it that not a lot is accurate in that movie. It's about as accurate as Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie was to Tolkien's books.

Made an appointment for a Saturday morning with @Bob P to look at something he was selling.

Contacted him Friday morning and told him I couldn’t make it.

He then gave me a thumbs down because I “backed out.” So of course I did the same for him, detailing “poor communication.”

So now I add a caveat that you come, look at it, and if it’s what you want, we are all set. But if not, no downside. So “mini-goose” rules.

I'll sell it in a legal way to whomever comes up with the cash first.
Simple as that. Done with the people that say maybe in a few weeks and dick around.
Sorry, I just sold it! [rofl2]

We do have quite a few ghosters in the classified sections. List something, they want it and never hear from them again. I had one meet-up in plmouth. Drove for 45 minutes to sell a pistol and they never showed.
I like to think the outdoor and gun community is more honorable than the normal crowd but sometimes you get disappointed.
At this point, if you have zero feedback I wont drive any more than 10 mins. You come to me or ill pass. NES is nothing like it used to be.

Why?

From the looks of it most people on NES don't know the pain of dealing with people on the classifieds here.
I've never had a problem selling or buying here. Sometimes it's forgotten how busy people can be and if you want to sell or buy, you need to be flexible. I'm lucky, I guess, because I'm usually very busy doing nothing most of the time!👍

This....

I had to refine the way I listed things to shit filter the morons out, from then on it was smooth sailing. If you silver platter the deal the right people show up. If you don't then you end up with weird skinflints and problems, and the "Bweuh, will u take a 40 gal fish tank and a bag of weed plus $100 for ur gun? " type horseshit you would run into with welfare/SSDI types from the CB radio. 🤣 You have to set up the ad and terms to minimize the garbage. And also identify the venue.... some things are great fir nes classifieds, others are far better off being consigned at a gun shop so you'll be insulated from the drama that something like a Para Warthog would cause..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Most of my problems are with people saying they will take it only to either disappear or reconsider. Twice this happened when I was moving and I had trouble selling in a timely manner as a result

I've bought exactly one firearm from a member here and it went very smoothly...seller was a great guy. We met at an LGS, swapped green stuff for said firearm and went our separate ways. Done...
