Three Illinois men -- accused of trying to rob a pizza restaurant only to be foiled by an off-duty cop -- now find themselves changed with murder for the death of the fourth would-be robber.
Police say one of the suspects was armed when they attempted to rob Marie's Pizza in Rockford on Saturday. An off-duty officer, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Pobjecky, was in the restaurant. He didn't have a weapon himself, but he managed to grab a gun from the waistband of an employee and open fire. Pobjecky hit all four suspects, killing the youngest one, 16-year-old Michael Sago.
Indictments were handed up against the three recovering suspects. They each face multiple counts, including first-degree murder for Sago's death.....

The four suspects wounded in an officer-involved fatal shooting over the weekend have been identified as Desmond Bellmon, 23; Brandon Sago, 22; Lamar Coates, 23; and the deceased male, Michael D. Sago, 16; all of Rockford.

Bellmon has a criminal history that includes charges filed in June for mob action, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carry and possession of a firearm in public and no firearm owner’s identification card.
Brandon Sago was arrested in 2006 for manufacturing and delivering heroin.
Coates was arrested on multiple weapons charges in 2008, including felony possession of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, felony possession of a firearm, mob action and no firearm owner’s identification card.....
