If you're famous, you can have a non-compliant handgun in MA.

Ummmmm we can all have non-compliant handguns in Mass.

The ONLY thing that prevents us from owning these is that dealers can't sell or transfer them to us. But you are free to move to the state with them, come to organized shoots from out of state even.

The SBR may fall under the AWB, but it would be classified as a movie prop and is probably incapable of being fired, ie plugged barrell or something which excludes it from the AWB or the requirement of an FID, LTC.

I believe that FFL dealers may lawfully possess AWB firearms, and even keep non-compliant guns in inventory. It may be perfectly legal for actors to handle such firearms under the supervision of an FFL holder - just like an FFL holder may let you handle a firearm he can't sell you due to the MaBan. Perhaps they had an FFL holder working as propmaster (movie productions generally have a specialist whose job is to provide the guns, assure safety, and take possession of the firearms after the scene has been shot).

The A-team was filmed with semi auto mini-14s and colt SP1s in order to get around a lot of states laws at the time on Class IIIs. The actors would squeeze the trigger rapid fire. I would not be surprised if hollywood has gotten down a lot of tricks since then to get around a lot of state laws. MA's whole definition of a firearm is just ripe for letter of the law abuse.
