This is a Smith & Wesson Model 19-5 .357 Magnum. The -5 designates it as 1982 or newer (behold the power of Google!), and from the looks of it, it was not shot very much.

My Mod 19 never even made it to the door with the factory grips on; bought a set of Siles grips right at point of purchase and gave the wood grips the proper treatment: the circular file.
