That would make it 1968. I venture to guess that had you not requested your 'light at the end of the tunnel' diploma, you'd be back in the jungle shortly thereafter. Good move.
 
I appreciate both your service and your choice to take the form and move on.

50 years is a long time. My dad was in right while you were getting out. Some good stories from that era.

During that timeframe, it was not unusual for helicopter pilots and critical MOS aircrew members to be called back to Vietnam a year or so later. To avoid a year-later callback, the only stabilized tour was going back to the Army's Flight School as an instructor pilot which took the heat off. Interesting times for sure!
