Ok, been a member for about a month and I read a lot of the post. I have seen this term used frequently but I am still unsure of it's actual definition for this forums use. So please, anyone what is a "moonbat"?

It's a winged creature with socialist tendecies. Votes mostly democrat, loves to spend other peoples money, enacts new laws for 'the children' and takes no responsibilty for it's own actions. it's worst trait is the fact that it helps perpetuate the lower class by creating the illusion that their only choice is to permanently accept welfare payments and government subsidy.

the first time I heard the term used was when I was in the navy, stationed in San Diego in the 70's and jerry brown was either governor or running for it (I can't remember which). Someone referred to him as a Barking Moonbat and I almost blew my sinuses clean trying to stifle back a laugh...the term was just so darned descriptive [smile]

A person at the range that announces he is a cop and continues to tell you that your high capacity magazine is a federal offense and is punishable by 5 years and $10K..

True story,happened last Saturday and the guy was a cop,an auxiliary cop.I wanted to ask him his NES screen name.

That was so good I want to smoke a cigarette! Have not laughed that hard in at least three weeks.

Reminded me of the episode of wife swap where there was a woman who was telling her family that people can survive by consuming sunlight. The husband who was about as smart as a doorknob asked her if that was true, then why are there so many people in Africa (where it is sunny) starving. She had a wounded/abused puppy look and just could not figure out how to reconcile the truth with her warped perception of the truth. I bet she goes to these earth first cry ins.
