How to date manufacture on S&W handguns

I finally got a email back from S&W reguarding date of manufacture.
I would have to send in info and picture along with a check for 50.00 then wait aprox 12+ weeks I am just looking for the year it was built

I have a 19-2 357
and a model 41 22lr

Anyone have a resource for a simple year it was built. My blue book has nothing???

According to the Standard Catalog of S&W the 19-2 was made between 1961 and 1967. If you post the serial #s I can check for a more specific date. If you don't want to post the entire number just replace the last three digits with XXX.

I looked for the book locally. I am just looking to possibly sell them and just want to know what year so when asked I will know

41 746XX: I think I spoke too quickly on this one. The book just says the autoloading pistol serial number range starts at 1001 in 1954 and continues to 115000 in 1970, after which time there are letter prefixes, so all I can say with certainty is pre-1970. Sorry. Maybe someone with better info will chime in.
