Home Monitoring System on Woot today

Nice concept but two problems that I see.

- Each camera needs a place to plug a 9V brick power supply in. OK for indoors, PITA for outdoors.

- MGLs makes it a felony to record audio ("wiretapping law") and these cameras have audio! Somehow you have to disable the audio (no idea how you'd do that on these units) to run them legally. [MGL says that BOTH parties MUST be informed and agree (IIRC) to the audio recording otherwise it is a Felony. May not be impossible to CYA on this, but damned difficult to do so!]

Another problem appears to be that this system uses a proprietary camera system. I see no indication that these cameras are standard 802.11. They appear to have to go through the controller in order for the video to be monitored over the internet. So, at the end of the year, if you don't want to pay Motorola $10/mo to keep using them , they become paperweights.
