Gunman shot dead after opening fire on federal courthouse in downtown Dallas | Crime | Dallas News

This is a breaking news story and it is constantly being updated.

A man in a mask, combat gear and glasses was shot and killed Monday morning in downtown Dallas after he opened fire with an assault rifle outside the Earle Cabell Federal Building. No one else was injured.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSarno identified the shooter as Brian Isaack Clyde, 22 at a news conference on a street corner near the federal building. Clyde died at the scene and was taken to Baylor University Medical Center, after police responded to an active shooter call, officials said.

Neither DeSarno nor Erin Nealy Cox, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, gave any indication why Clyde would target the federal building.

Dallas Morning News photographer Tom Fox witnessed the shooter fire outside the building and took photos as the shooting occurred. Fox said the gunman fired from the parking lot across the street toward Fox, a security guard, a woman walking a golden retriever and a man who hadn't tied his tie yet.

The window panes in the revolving door and two side doors at the Commerce Street entrance were broken afterward. It is unclear if the door was shot by the shooter or law enforcement.

A photo taken by Fox shows law enforcement around Clyde, who is lying on the ground without a shirt on. The shooter had a red heart tattoo with a black drawing inside, possibly of an animal, on his left arm.

"He was brought to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Matt DeSarno, special agent in charge of the FBI's Dallas Field Office, said. No one else was injured during the incident, police said."

Clearly this shows how an immediate armed response stops evil people bent on mass murder.

Is that a subdued 101st patch on his vest?

You know, I like to give Marines shit more than anybody.....and my second choise is giving 82dn Airborne guys shit.
…….Now I have more ammo to give the 101st guy's shit!
(Loved those barracks pictures where he was packing a stapler. I bet that was the closest thing to a weapon they would allow him to have!)

Lol @ memes.

Glad he got dirt napped quick. That pic if him holding the mag looks like he doesn't understand why he can find the X button to reload....

Don't mistake this for sympathy. Actions have consequences and he made his choice.

Kid looks, well looked, I guess, scared to death. Like F**K F**K F**K F**K WHAT HAVE I DONE?!

Maybe he thought a federal court house was a gun free zone. Just a bit of checking and he may have saw the federal marshals hanging around.

The clown's social media indicates he was a flake and highly immature. I'm guessing he got bounced from the army for being a nut or a lack of discipline. Seemed more like a teenager shitposting on Reddit to outrage troll than someone in their 20s with time in the military under their belt.

Doesn't make sense why he'd suddenly decide attacking a federal courthouse was a good idea. Not that this clown was terribly bright and full of good ideas to begin with.

Sure looks like a 101st patch up on his shoulder strap. Clown.

2 yrs infantry and he still can’t remember to tuck in his GD boot laces? Everything in that pic screams I’m about to be DX’d and doing the duffel bag drag all the way back home for failure to adapt.

As others have said, perfect showing that all it took was a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun, and got it done before any cajaties occurred to boot.

Not that that will matter to the other side, because saving lives is not their concern, complete disarmament is, at any cost.

Yes. But those liberal politicians who seek to disarm us peons want that "immediate armed response" to come from uniformed, sworn LEOs, not "civilians".

Notice how the identity of this guy was readily available almost immediately. Not the case with the last guy and many others

Of course because this guy was a righty crazy vs the usual lefty crazy. He fits the narrative. Expect this to get a lot of play in spite of 0 casualties.

"Clyde was discharged from the military after serving as a Army infantryman for less than two years, federal authorities said. They did not disclose why he was discharged."

I have a hunch it was not for his eyesight. Eventually the reason will become known, but we may never hear about it.
Possession of Furry porn.

Possession of Furry porn.

Possibly, but here's what I don't don't understand.

A dishonorable discharge is an automatic "prohibited person", or so I thought. How on Earth was he able to buy or even TOUCH a firearm if he was a prohibited person?!

Also, it's CLEARLY against the law to run around in public shooting at people. I would assume that's attempted murder or assault with a a deadly weapon at the very least.

So the obvious question is... if his actions were against the law and he was in possession of material he legally barred from having, then how the hell was able to acquire that gun and commit that crime? I mean, there are LAWS dammit.

We really should pass a law to prevent this from ever happening again.
