It looks like the guy with a gun isn't local. It's entirely possible that Marblehead COP called the gun guy's COP and suggested looking into the gun guy's suitability.

The MHD CoP is pretty reasonable about 2a.
There’s a decent amount of gun owners in town and he doesn’t play the restrictions game.
