I was admiring the Model 41 with its new target grips here http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=473303&postcount=8

It got me thinking - what grip options are out there for the Model 41? I have Herrets on mine. While I like them much better than the stock grips, I don't find they force me into a consistent grip. I'm wondering if there's a better answer out there for me.

I did a little Googling. I found Vitarbo NRA style grips (http://www.champchoice.com/detail.php?item=VN41M). They look a little different than the ones in the post. I also found Nills (http://mactec-militaryarms.com/sw113xl_nill_grips.html). They don't look like anything special and seem very pricey. The most interesting one I found was Morini grips at Champion's Choice (http://www.champchoice.com/detail.php?item=M936 ). Again, they are a bit pricey.

Given the cost of these grips, I'm not going to buy one of each to see what works best. Have any of you used these or others? What do you think of them? Am I best off sticking to what I have?

I've use Vitarbo grips. Custom versions on my High Standard, and the "production" version on a 1911 bullseye gun. I've been very happy with both. I know others that have the Nils, and they liked them also.
Gregg Derr is a contact for getting the custom Vitarbo grips.

These are Vitarbo walnut target grips. They are awesome on the 41. Not too expensive either.

Rink (http://www.pistol-grips.net) makes a nice set of target grips for the Model 41. My Dad has a set and loves them.

You can order them from Larry's guns (www.larrysguns.com).

Rink - absolutely the best out there. I have them on both of my Walther GSPs and will be getting a pair sized to my wife's hand so she can start using my M 41. You can get them with and without the upswept palm shelf, which is OK for NRA Bullseye but not OK for international. If you plan to shoot Bullseye only, the upswept bit really makes a difference - getting into my Rink grips is like putting on a pair of custom made gloves.

Another thumbs-up for the Rink...

I feel they have more of a bulge, if you will, on the side that fits into your palm . On the Rink site, you'll notice they have 5 variables which you choose on each grip. You'll notice the "convex" variation is what I'm talking about. I've had Nills on 2 pistols and in both cases they are lacking in that area. The Rink fit like a glove. Some would say "putty it up", but the workmanship is too nice to deface them and anyway, after spending $200+, I'm not about to make them lok like a woodshop project. The Rinks are a perfect fit, anyhow. Also, size-wise, the Nills run a bit bigger than Rinks. XL Nills were the first grips I ever tried that were too big. I then went to a Lg Rink, and it was a bit too small! Trial and error at $200 a pop, I guess!

Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me for any addl questions...
