Go bag axe handle grip?

I have a Cold Steel Ax (https://www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-Trench-Hawk-Axe/dp/B0030DBHGU) and I am going to Molle config this to attach to my go bag. The issue I have is the grip. I've tried making a paracord grip but it just isn't ideal (although if nothing else is available, I suppose I can deal) It's really not bad, in terms of grip and all, just trying to make it perfect.

Since this has a plastic feel grip, is there any tape or something I can add to it so it won't slip so much?

+1 on the hockey tape. I actually put it on all my carry guns, great for when hands get sweaty.

Hockey tape and Skate tape is cool, but I prefer something that won't wear out fast. Maybe I can Dremel the axe grip.

That's what I did. I have the same hawk and the handle definitely need some grip tape. Way too slippery.

I have used this for peg board hooks and on tool handles.

You can create a "grip" under any sort of tape...watch how this hockey player starts his grip. Since there is no way to easily put the paracord I'd probably create a grip like this then go over it with skateboard or other grip tape.

Baseball bat tape or bike hadlebar tape? Hockey tape would work very well too. The grip is usually tape once and never again. The blade tape will get replaced a few times.

You mention not hockey tape or skateboard tape due to it wearing out fast... It's for your go bag though, so will it see a lot of use anyways?
