German Mauser

Does anyone have any information on the German Mauser advertised in American Rifleman for $499.00 ? I believe the company selling them is called Mitchell's Mausers. A friend is interested in a WWII era rifle and wants something a bit more unusual than a Garand.

Well a K98 Mauser is hardly "unusual"! They were used extensively by the Germans, just like our troops used the M1.

Mitchell's Mausers is well known for over-priced stuff that looks real pretty. Suitable for folks with more money than time or initiative to look for the good stuff at reasonable prices.

Plenty of good K98 Mausers available for a good deal less than $500! Check with Terry Goode at Collectors in Pelham, NH. Four Seasons usually has some nice specimens of the Yugo M48 Mausers.

The Swedish 1896 Mausers are considered difficult to come by and superb rifles.

Mitchell's look pretty but that about as far as it goes.
If you're looking for a WWII K98, another load of Russian captures seems to have hit our shores and they're going for just under $200.
You do have your C&R don't you?

You can find nicer ones than Mitchell's at some gun shops hiding in the corner for the same price.
