If he really wanted to make a statement he would go back to the Queen break his sword in pieces in front of her - and hand the Knighthood back - saying:

" Given the state of the country formerly known as 'Great' Britain, I cannot in good conciense keep this title - knowing that one of the accoutrements of said title - is the carrying of a sword, which is now illegal. I regret that I feel I have to hand this back to you here and in public - and make this statement: My country is a disgrace. By your leave - I will now go back to my cottage to enjoy my last days of freedom as I am sure some jackass coppers will soon be showing up for me".

I find it amazing that an entire country would submit to being completely neutered like Great Britain has. Hardly seems like the country that ruled most of the world 300 years ago. It is also a preview of what our new socialist regime is turning America into...

Pratchett has stored the sword, which he completed last year, in a secret location, apparently concerned about the authorities taking an interest in it.
He said: "It annoys me that knights aren’t allowed to carry their swords. That would be knife crime."
