Fish pics

Our club held a two day tournament on Candlewood Lake last weekend. I had a couple good days. Weather was beautiful, fish were biting it was nice to get away. Last two years work and kids schedules have kept me from tournaments. It was good to see the gang again.

Sat we blasted off at 7. First couple spots yielded nothing. I didnt have a fish till 11 am when i stopped throwing moving baita and picked up my pitching stick. A lot of the weeds had green slime on them but I started to find clean ones. Soon I stuck a decent largie. I knew of a.similar spot not far away and hooked a cow of a smallie. Coming up it was being chased by a bunch of buddies. Unfortunately it popped off before I could get him in the boat. But I picked up two more out of that school. Moved to another similar spot and picked up a 4 ish smallie and a nother decent one then missed two more fish. Moved to a largie spot looking for a kicker and 2 casts later I boat that days lunker a 5.44 green fish. Culled one more time with a decent smallie and that was all she wrote. Weighed in 17.89 for day one with largemouth lunker and missed smallmouth lunker by .08. 2nd place was about 2 pounds back and 3rd had 12 and change.

Day 2 was much tougher. Eeked out a 10.5 lb limit but dropped 3 fish around 4 lbs each in the process.

Ended up holding on for the win by just about a pound.

Allah, how was the RIBW? Had stuff to do at the house with family. Never even got wet until we went shell fishing in the back yard. Did we meet at gooseberry last weekend? Awful long ride to Rosé Nulman Park with a 19/mo

Lol. Thanks. I'm on the North Shore. I do a week down the Cape each year. Falmouth, Bourne, and usually the Vineyard for a day. I'm bringing the new kayak this year. I'd like to fish Vineyard Sound.

My 15 yo son and his pals have the fishing bug. Hitting the local ponds almost daily and having some luck.
Makes me happy to seem them outside and away from the damn Xbox....!

Took a charter out of Block Island yesterday July 13th with my Dad and 2 buddies. This is a yearly trip we take with Capt Neal vitullo of Played For It Charters. He does not dissapoint and certainly did not yesterday.

We left Pt Judith around 5:15 am to a nice sunrise

We got out to Block quickly and comfortably on his 27 foot Glacier Bay Catamaran with twin yamaha 150's. Nice smooth ride. Set up our first drift and nothing till he told us to pull up to reset our drift when a 44" fish smashed my dad's eel on the surface boatside. Immediately every idiot in a boat around converged on us. We moved.... They followed.... We moved.... They followed We swore, pointed fingers, threw large treble hooked lures next to their boats and then moved. They didnt follow.... Except for one peckerhead who was thicker than most... But then he saw another flotilla of boats and went that way.

Then we started on a steady pick of 43" to 48 inch fish. All nice and fat, all over 35 pounds easily. I lost one that I just could not stop and it broke me off in the rocks. It was way stronger than the 48" fish I landed later.

My friend Jamie with a 46" fish

My Dad with a 45" fish

Pulled a shark out of the surf in the Cape Cod bay Saturday. Still trying to decide what type it is. Narrowed down to either black tip, mako or tiger.

That's pretty awesome. Apparently makos are good eatin'? I was just reading about them on wiki and saw this

Mako shark is one of the most popularly consumed shark species. Rather than for its fins, this species is prized for its meat, especially in the New England states, where it can even be found in grocery stores.

Can't say I've ever seen mako at the supermarket though.

my buddy caught a mako a few years ago...marinated some steaks of it in a soy and something marinade and it was single handedly the best piece of seafood I have ever eaten

Absolutely delicious! I like it better than swordfish! Steaks, not fillets. Marinate 1" steaks in garlic, butter, lemon, and soy/teryaki. On the grill, medium heat, 3-4 mins a side.

Market Basket (R.I.P. [sad2]) had them from time to time. [smile]
