Filling in Lettering

Anyone know of something good to fill in lettering on an AR lower? You know, the white or red colored stuff people put in them. I've heard of people using crayons but that seems weird to me for some reason...

I used some laquer-stiks from Brownells on a Glock and my M&P. It comes off with mineral spirits (I used WD40 to clean it up).

Don't laugh, but I am not too familiar with the ARs. I just read the thread and am a little curious as to what the coloring in is for and what gets colored in?

Laquer sticks. Also available from MacMaster-Carr. I've used them to fill engraved lettering we've done.

Testor's model paints.

Make sure you clean the area with brake cleaner or some other evaporating degreaser before you paint.

Heck, just a tire crayon works just fine. Pick one up at your local auto store. I may not last as long as a lacquer stick but works none-the-less.

Crayon works on my pistol, and only has problems when i shoot enough to melt it out of the lettering

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going to try the testors since I have some around already. There are a few threads on this at the ar15 forums.
