ESSEX, Vermont (AP) -- A teacher preparing for the start of classes next week was shot Thursday at an elementary school, police said.

An officer at the town police department who did not identify himself said the shooter was still believed to be in the Essex Elementary School.

He said no other details were immediately available.

Y'know, when I read the headlines that the shooter shot himself in the head, I assumed that he died... then I read this:

He said Williams shot himself twice in the head, but was still able to talk to police when they arrived.

WTF? Why couldn't he have saved VT the price of a trial?

I just saw the latest report & he has been released from the hospital. And transferred to jail. It also said that his ex-girlfriend was not among the dead or wounded, contradicting last nights reports.

I'll never understand these types of shootings.
