The segment would have been even more powerful had Dobbs policed his facts a little better at the open regarding the alleged light armored vehicles. Why embellish with sketchy speculation when demonstrable facts are more than scary enough and can stand on their own?

That seems to the the gist of a Washington Post story.

According to the Post, many gun makers and retailers don't have a problem with expanding the scope and scale of background checks:

In behind-the-scenes talks with congressional staff members and others, gunmakers, dealers and other Second Amendment advocates have offered support for more instant criminal background checks, buoying the hopes of gun-control supporters, including President Obama, who has put a top priority on extending criminal checks to private sales.

Do retailers smell a new revenue stream if private party sales require background checks have to be run through a dealer before a lawful transfer happens?

Gunmakers sell only new guns, they don't have any skin in the game when it comes to used gun sales or private party transactions.

We also don't know what pressure may be being applied behind the gun industry behind the scenes.

But I have to wonder if gun control advocates on Capitol Hill are really driving a wedge as big as the Washington Post indicates. The Post at times has seemed almost an apologist organ for the Obama administration.
