I've got an older Desert Eagle .357 mag (probably from the early 1990's)
It's got an aluminum frame, and steel slide & barrel.
I was wondering if it's possible to safely use a .44 mag slide and barrel for it, or is the aluminum frame strictly for the .357 version?

They could all be aluminum frames for all I know, I don't have alot of knowledge on this gun.

If anyone has any input or experience with this, let me know

thanks

The new ones are carbon steel frame and the entire gun weighs 4.5 lbs. All 3 versions, 357, 44 and 50 all use the same frame with the Mark XIX.

they make a .44 mag with an aluminum frame, 50 ae as well. if the shoe fits, in this case the slide, why not. as to purchasing a new slide, would they sell it? and wouldn't it need to be fit to the frame? this isn't a gi 1911 after all.

I would guess it is a mk vii?

But it is my understanding the answer is no. Unless you have the mk xix or a 50 cal mk vii you can not swap calibers.

But, you can and should call MRI to verify anything.
