Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) reacted to the Wednesday night attacks in Lewiston, Maine, by pushing an “assault weapons” ban (again).

Police have yet to identify the firearm used in the attacks, although photographs of the person of interest appears to be holding some sort of long gun.

This is why the folks in CT who all registered their AR's are stupid.

Now the government has a list to come and confiscate them.

Yes, indeed! Stupidity knows no bounds!

Hey Murphy -- there are hundreds, if not thousands of law enforcement officers from local, county, state, and federal agencies out there looking for this guy.

What are they carrying, and why? Patrol rifles. Because they're the best tool for the job.

Why then, would you deny law-abiding citizens access to the same tools?

Read pages two through seven, and tell us why you wouldn't want people to have the same advantages.

The story would not be complete if they didn't mention the guy that did this had mental health issues and was in an institution months prior to the day he decided to kill innocents and oh, yea, claimed he would shoot up a base in Saco, ME as well. Tell me again how there was no early warning sign's.

How about we let another 24 hours pass and we will get the real story about who this guy was and what other issues were at play prior to the event. In the meantime, private gun ownership prevent people like him from taking more lives outside of bowling ally's and resteraunts.

EVERY TIME. EVERY DAMN TIME. Every time there is a court case that looks like it will over turn gross infringements of constitutional rights, a person, always "known to law enforcement" get their trigger orders with targets.
Happens every time. It is statistically impossible for there shootings to all be completely random "lone wolf" events.
More proof is that every time this happens, there is more push for unconstitutional action by gov't. Whether it is more bans for the good people, by law, or demands by the left for dictatorial executive action when congress won't, it always follows these coordinated and planned shootings. The only shooters that live are those who are too far gone to be believed if they ever told the truth.

2022 FBI crime stats still has knives over rifles 1313 to 718 for homicides.

In the "all others" category almost 5x as many homicides 3447 to 718

They aren’t seeing the flip side of this. One guy goes full retard with a rifle. But no one ‘sheltering in place’ can own one to defend themselves against this at large murderer.

CT has a UUGE problem since 250,000 new armed felons were created overnight after the closed door sandy hook legislative session. What does a state do with a quarter million gun felons with ARs and "others" in their possession? Nothing lol. At least go door to door a few times with swat and *buyback* a few of em.

Widely reported he is National Guard, firearms instructor. Word on Twitter is he used a gUn from the armory. I am sure other on here can comment on how feasible that is. Does look like rifle has an ACOG In the pics.

That would indicate that no law would have prevented this.

The upper receiver on the rifle is some commercial garbage, not your standard m4.

As Winston Churchill so famously said "never let a good crisis go to waste". Senator Murphy is clearly doing exactly that. No doubt he will be followed by many others.
These sorts of calls for "bans" deflect attention away from some of the real problems with "mass shooters" -- the lack of mental health care and the failure of government to enforce existing laws and regulations.

Yes but usually they have the decorum to wait until all the victims die

Plus they drive like actual F's. [rofl]

OK, to be fair, the Tonysuhpranoze wannabe's in NJ near the NY border are 10x worse. The western NJ/Eastern PA ones aren't much better. I can't believe I'm putting CT drivers in 3rd place at this point. Wow.
