Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom Tour, Beverly. September 16th - 18th

The Collins Foundation opens up their facility/toy rooms in Stow, MA once or twice a year, highly recommended. Last I was there they were working on a runway out back. The tanks they have in there are amazing. You wouldn't believe all the old military machines they have, it's truly awesome!

Weekend of October 8th this year.

Got to fly in a B-24 yesterday. What a blast. We were all like kids on their birthday. I will do it again next year.

You Sir - need to work less.
I've said it for years.

Every minute you spend at work is worth 3x at home...

You choose.

I was actually home Sunday afternoon, awake and in my backyard for probably the third or fourth time this year. I fixed a cedar chair that I had started fixing back in April. I looked up as my house was being buzzed by a what I think was a B-25, at about 500 feet. It was a very loud twin engine light bomber. I really don't know my aircraft that well. My Uncle was a Bomber Pilot, he flew the hump in WWII and was in Korea too. I think he flew a B-29, I'll have to ask my Mom, she's got a bunch of photos of him with his planes.

Was their b25. Had that running every hour

I believe the Foundation is getting a Spitfire 9 to add to the collection. Not sure if it will be owned by them or just operated out of Stowe. Hopefully it isn't the one that nosed over in the UK two weeks ago.

They own one, and it just got its air cert. Also gained a German bomber (won't ever fly again), and another b17 bomber along other flying toys.

Hmm, if its the second Mk.9 spitfire (BH601) its the one that nosed over in the UK, just received its cert. to fly. needs a bit of work now.

My wife and I took our son (year and a half) over on Saturday. It was fantastic. Son couldn't stop pointing at the planes and saying 'Whoa!', I think he enjoyed it almost as much as I did. :) Watching the P-51 take off gave chills. If I had the $2,200 to burn, that would have been the way I chose to do it! Thanks for posting that this was going on, probably wouldn't have heard about it otherwise.

I've been enjoying the planes flying over my house this weekend. I'm north and across the reservoirs from the airport area, and apparently on their usual flight path.

Flew in the B-17 yesterday. HIGHLY recommended. I actually enjoyed it more than the B-29. The nose seat was simply amazing, and sticking your head out the open "sunroof" was a huge rush!
