A man shot Saturday morning by a Longmont police officer has a history of violently resisting arrest on relatively minor charges, Longmont police Cmdr. Tim Lewis said.
Now Brandon Michael Duke, 21, of Longmont, could face attempted murder charges after he allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and fired several shots at a police officer as he ran down Main Street in Longmont around 8:10 a.m. Saturday. The officer had approached Duke to arrest him on a misdemeanor assault warrant related to a fight Duke had on Thursday with another man who lived in the same house.
After Duke opened fire at the busy downtown intersection of Main Street and Boston Avenue on Saturday, the officer shot back.
