classic Marlin model 70

I got this .22 for $40 on gunbroker.com. The stock was pretty beat-up so I decided to use it to practice some of my amateur gunsmithing skills.
The stock was refinished with a Miles-Gilbert "Formula #5" kit.

Also, I bedded the action with a Brownells Acraglas Gel/Epoxy kit which resulted in a free-floated barrel.

I've gotta run now to put that $20 in my gas tank.

That's a nice job.

Used to be $20 more than filled my tank. Now it barely buys 5 gallons.[crying]
 
That looks great![grin] You can't beat the Marlin's for the price. I bought a used Model 60 (tube fed .22) for $20.00 a while back, because the feeding tube had a tiny dent. The owner couldn't figure out how to fix the dent, so he thought the rifle was junk. I tapped a metal rod down the feeding tube, and the dent was gone. Nice rifle.
