I get it that they are scared. If I was in their shoes however, I wonder if I might be lobbying for a lower age for LTC and student carry in schools.

I think people been force fed lies about firearms, violence, and law enforcement for so long it's too much of a mental leap for someone who is basically a good person and wants to help people and wouldn't harm someone else unless as a last resort, to see using firearms in a defensive manner as a good thing. I've seen people when first handed a demonstrated unloaded firearm, or even just a barrel out of a pistol, during an instruction course whose hands start shaking. They're *terrified* of guns, because almost everything they "know" about them is wrong.
