Can't understand how this happened- didn't the social worker arrive and speak consolingly and with deep understanding, so as to redirect his animus into constructive activities? I mean, the concept seems so solid.

Good Shoot, smaller brain.
Notably prefrontal cortex.

“Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson told a press conference that he was 'devastated' to be learning of another young, black man killed by police, but stressed that he could have been grieving the loss of another black life if the officer hit had been killed.”

That young; black man killed by police shot a cop (who was also black) but sure, lets make this about race, dickhead

The implication is that the shooting of a black subject by police is only justified if the shooting saves a black life. It would have been politically unwoke to simply say "grieving the loss of another life".

There is also probable profiling - seat belt as primary justification for a stop?

I think the bigger question is, why 90 shots? I think the officers need more range time.
Because they panicked. It's another "spray and pray" situation.

Once the guy opened fire on the cops, he was fair game. However, the 4 officers here should be gone, both from an inability to control their emotions when they are afraid and from a demonstrated inability to hit what they were shooting at.

90 shots isn't a lol... but they handled their shit well all things considered.

Maybe you could nit pick the one who initiated contact with the car was not quick enough to resort to physical violence... she may have avoided it if she popped him quick in the face and got that door open. But that's hindsight after we know someone died.

There were 5 cops.. one was hit

They each dumped a mag

G17 holds 17 rds plus 1 in the pipe.

Not excessive..

According to AP, "One officer alone fired 50 shots," and at least one other officer also paused to reload. Nor does the math add up for mag dumps, since 96 shots were fired.

Personally, I find it interesting that despite the dark tinted windows, quoting Chicago COPA, "Preliminary reports indicate that this incident began when five Chicago Police officers assigned to an 11th District tactical unit engaged in a traffic stop of Dexter Reed, Jr. for purportedly not wearing a seatbelt."

Well some people just like to shoot guns

Words to live by.
Memo to Nicole & Poscha:
Sorry for your loss. If you have any other siblings you care about kindly remind them to obey the law, cooperate with the police when required, and stay out of trouble. That way you can ensure they will have a long, productive and happy life. Those who play stupid games will win stupid prizes and end up like your late son / brother.

There Will Be No George Floyd 2.0

The Left might pine for a 2020 redux. But they shouldn’t hold their breath.

On March 21, a 26-year-old black man named Dexter Reed was pulled over for a seatbelt violation by four plainclothes Chicago police officers. When Reed refused to comply with orders to roll down his window, the officers surrounded the vehicle and instructed Reed to unlock the doors; in response, Reed pulled out a gun and began shooting, hitting one officer in the forearm. The police returned fire, and Reed was killed. The entire interaction was captured on police body cameras, the footage from which was released to the public last week. The Chicago Office of Police Accountability, a law-enforcement civilian oversight board, confirmed after a review of the footage that Reed “fired first,” and that a handgun was recovered from the front passenger seat of his car.

Reed’s killing set into motion a familiar ritual. Community activists called for the scalps of the officers involved in the shooting. Left-wing activist groups and local legislators — including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnsonrushed to express their shock and outrage at the scourge of police brutality and systemic racism. Protests mobilized on the streets of Chicago, clashing with law enforcement and blocking an intersection outside a police station. (Reed’s brother was arrested at the protest.) Tearful family members recounted stories of Reed’s angelic innocence to a swarm of sympathetic journalists, and they appeared alongside local activists at a press conference, brandishing Justice for Dexter Reed! signs:
