Can I legally carry a pistol in VT while hunting?

Can I legally carry a pistol while dear hunting this season in Vermont? I was told yes, but wanted to check before hand with you experts....

In nh you can carry a handgun through all of the deer hunting seasons. I would suspect that you could do it in Vermont as well, but have no idea.

During the "regular" gun season - not black powder or archery - any firearm may be used to hunt deer. See:

I used to carry a pistol but the weight added to all the rest of the stuff I carry became too much.
