Good morning!

Headed to the cape this morning for the week and was wondering if I bring my carry piece m&p 45c if I store it in my camper in a safe I have bolted to the floor in a hidden location does this qualify for legal storage. I guess the real question is do the same rules apply to campers as my house? For storage that is....

If you are camping at the State Park, Nickerson, no Firearms allowed per state regulations.

This. As to your question. A locked soft-sided pistol case laying on your coffee table is considered legal in ma. The MASJC released a statement 3? yrs. ago stating glass and soft cases are legal as long as they have a lock on them. So the setup you described is more than adequate.

Basically, as long as the person has to commit an "act of breaking" to gain access to the gun it is legal. Even if that act is only cutting the container open or snapping off a .10 luggage lock.

Thanks! I'm at a private campground and I knew about the state parks. that is to say anytime anything with state in the name gets me thinking. I figured I was good to go ..... Just wanted to be sure.

I just checked the web site that gives state regs for all 50 states and state parks in both MA & NH are are according to them ok for CCW.

Here's the web page for MA

Possession of Firearms
o
Draft regulations contained language that would have banned legal possession of firearms on properties where hunting is not allowed or would have required special or recreational use permit to possess a firearm.
o
Language was inadvertent; meant to relate solely to hunting, not general lawful possession of firearms
o

Final language removes reference to possession of firearms and permit requirement

I have not done detailed research in a few years. The last time I did there was a lot of conflicting information including some that has been posted here. Someplace and I can't seem to find it was reference to a park specific rule for Nickerson that banned all firearms. I did find this quote in the Cape Code Times "According to Deputy Chief Ranger Chris Williams of the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, Nickerson State Park in Brewster is among several state parks where gun possession, for any purpose, is banned."
