So I'm removing the cosmo from my vz-24 rifle. The only part I can't get to is the rear sight. I followed the directions here:

http://www.surplusrifle.com/brnovz24/rifledisassembly/index.asp

Any for some reason, I can't get the rear sight leaf to come out. The directions under that link seem pretty simple (fig 41 & 42), but it won't budge. Anyone had this issue or know how to convince it to come out?

Thanks.

I had to use a similar method to remove an SKS rear sight. Using a thin blade screwdriver I was able to tap it behind the sight left like a wedge and press down on the spring enough to slide it to the rear. You risk damaging the sight leaf and the housing this way though.

One thing you can do to clean that area without removal is to spray it generously with WD40, scrub with an old toothbrush, then blast away the gunk with a can of compressed air and swab it with Q tips. You should be able to get 90% if not all of it out this way.
