If I buy a C&R machine gun from out of state, do I still have to transfer it through a Mass Class III dealer, or can I get away with one Form 4 to me?

Do FFLs charge more for class III transfers than on typical transfers or are there other bs hurdles to jump?
I think the going rate is around $100 a transfer.
But if it is a C&R gun there are added "benefits" of it going direct to you.
#1. Its many times only 1 $200 transfer not 2.
#2. Its always only 1 wait for forms to be approved not 2.

So, if you see an FFL asking $100 or $150 for a transfer, they are not ripping you off.
I didn't mean to suggest that $100 was a rip off, if thats how you took it, was just stating what the fee often is...
Understood. The cost could seem like a lot compared to non-NFA transfers for a first time MG buyer. Jack.
If my quest for my MG license is successful, the transfer fee will be the proudest gun purchase of my life. I hope to make that call to you someday...
