I'm taking my son on the last junior hunt tomorrow and last time he went out he used a savage 12g semi auto, he got two ducks. But he did not enjoy the gun, so my dad said use my Citora 12g. My question is the gun was made back in 86 along with all the chokes ( modified in the gun right now ) can the gun be used with steel shot?

I know its a simple question, but the last thing I want to do is mess up dads gun. I can just grab my 870 and he can use that.

You know I thought the same thing but that semi auto savage kicked more than my 870 with the same ammo. We are going to shoot the ou at the club first thing in the morning to see how does.

It wasn't so much the recoil for it was more he didn't like the gun, didn't feel good, maybe cause he is a lefty shooter.

Jason are these screw in chokes? if so, I believe they have to be invector II chokes to handle steel shot.

Yes they are screw in chokes. He only got one shot on a bird last Sat. I'm heading out tomorrow with my 870.

Good luck to all.

Jason.
