Boston's Mayor Walsh being an idiot.

But Walsh actually knows it truly IS the gun that is the culprit, and he's right.
It IS the gun, and it WAS the gun that was the culprit the night Walsh himself was shot in Dorchester when he was a teenager...A bar fight, and after it ended, the gun got into a car and drove the neighborhood seeking revenge. When the gun located its adversary from the fight, it raced towards where the adversary was standing, pulled alongside, aimed itself and fired several rounds off (this happens quite frequently when a loaded gun is left unattended).

One of the shots struck the future Mayor, who just happened to be hanging out with friends having beers. He wasn't seriously wounded, but the gun was arrested, booked, jailed and served 3 months in MCI Concord, after which the gun was placed on two years probation. Governor Dukakis reduced the sentence, negated the probation, and the gun was released (after telling the court it would be a well-behaved gun and would never again discharge itself in anger).

The gun is now retired, living peacefully and quietly in a senior gun facility in Lowell. (Mayor Walsh visited the gun during the early stages of his mayoral campaign and forgave the gun for shooting him).

You gotta send that one into whatever paper will print it.

"Police describe the shooter as 14 to 18-year-old"... right, it's all about bad guns, not bad people!
Oh wait, to politicians there is no such thing as a good gun... so it's all the guns fault!

Mr Mayor was this the guy?

black lives matter....unless shot by another person of color, then its just culture and still the fault of the gun community for insisting they keep their civil rights intact.

love the non logic!

In all seriousness, more ought to be done to reach out to the inner city in terms of 2A rights. Most are as honest and hard working as the next guy and ought to be informed as to their rights, the need for self defense and that they indeed HAVE such rights.

More and more often when I venture back to Hyde Park where I grew up, people are still astounded that a) citizens are allowed to even carry a concealed weapon b) that not every gun owner is Alex Jones or James Yeager.

a little outreach could indeed pay dividends - GOAL and the NRA (to a lesser extent) does a great job of preaching to the choir, but had gun owners a tangible urban presence, we could go far in changing the conversation and indeed, controlling it.

The "community" has to want to change before it can. The cycle will continue until the affected communities stop voting in the same type of leadership.

He uttered my favorite line about needing to get guns 'off the streets.' Where is this mythical street?

How about getting the criminals off the street and in jail?
