I was looking at these too (waiting for my full salary to get reinstated again some day).

I was also looking at the Knights M110 SASS > http://www.knightarmco.com/m110.html
until I saw someone selling it as a "deployment package" for $20k.

The SIG716 has some promise also.

AR in 6.5 Grendel.........Shoots flatter then .308 and has more energy @1000yds.

I just recently shot one and am working on building funds to get one.

Step away from the crack pipe and come back to reality. Go shoot a Grendel and a 308 at 1000 yards and then come back and tell us that. You are several orders of magnitude off.

That being said, I have no opinion on the HK/CETME types as I have never owned one or shot more than 20 rds from one.

I'd go with an M1A Scout Squad. Seems like the perfect .308 rifle for just about any purpose.

M1A National Match. A little heavier than the standard model, but not as bulky as the Super Match.

Secondary and Important question :

Which .308 platform doesn't mangle brass beyond re-use -ability ?

AR10 is very gentle on the brass. My FAL is pretty gentle as well
