A time or two over the years I have had that wire slip out of the hole. Recently it happened again. Don't know how many rounds were loaded while it was out. I have not noticed any difference in the rounds when fired. What is the purpose of that wire? What's the danger when it's out? Thanks

Are you talking about the one that ensures positive return of the powder measure?

If so, the danger is that the powder measure fails to return all the way and you end up with an undercharged (or not charged) case.

The friction between the powder-through expander and case should be enough to pull the powder measure back to its "home" position, but if not, that wire will finish the job.
