Article: Dad: Having a plan saved my kids during home invasion

I personally am shocked that these two fine, upstanding youth, obvious scholars by carrying their school backpacks, are accused of this crime. They were just confused and thought it was their friends house and thought they heard someone calling for help when they knocked - so they tried to render aid.

I also can't help but comment that if this had been in the PRM; the home owner would have been charged with unsecured firearms and leaving kids home alot. The owner would be in jail and the kids in DCF custody.

I'm impressed by how level-headed and articulate the father and son are. If only the perps were more like the victims in this crime maybe they would not be breaking and entering.

My other takeaway is how easy it was to break that entry door. I'm actually in the process right now of hardening the entry doors at work and at home so they're not kickable.

I agree with GM-Guy, If this was in MA, we'd be reading about how the homeowner endangered the community blah blah blah

Good for the family to practice for the worst case scenario
