whats the accepted effective range of this carbine, 300 yards?
 
on second thought, it's a great choice as soon as they swap out the barrel for a 20" HBAR and put on an A2 stock.

They're still using the M16A4. The M4 is only being fielded for 0300 series Marines. From the sounds of it, they're not purchasing any more M4's, but rather shuffling around current stocks.

Max effective range for a point target is 550 meters, for an area target it's 800 meters.
