AR mags not dropping free

Greetings,

I recently noticed that 6 of the 7 used preban mags I got for my AR don't drop free. MY lower is by Mega, the model is Gator, caliber un specific.
It seems that the rear of the mag is too thick - I can actually see mag finish being scraped by the mag well on some of them at that point.
I browsed through forums - notably ar15.com, and other people have similar issues. I tried a few methods - such as tapping the mag with a rubber mallet, still not dice. I wonder if there is a method I may have overlooked, or should I just get some more mags? (which I will probably do anyway).

Did you measure the mag well to see if its in spec?

If it is, then just buy NEW mags. Used mags go up for sale for a variety of reasons and not dropping free is I'd say one of the top three.

Magwell made to minimum specs, certain mags made to max specs or either made out of spec.

Or, your mag realease may not be fully disengaging.
