I have an upper and lower (different manufacturers) that do not quite go together. Can anyone recommend a Massachusetts (eastern portion, if possible) gunsmith who is experienced in these matters?
RRA upper (small hole) and a Colt Sporter II (big hole) lower. I have used a DPMS offset conversion pin, adjusted it so that it does not bind, and mating the two is possible, but rather stiff. Through trial and error I have made the fit better, but when I wrote the above, fitting the two required more force than made me comfortable.
It appears that removal of a small amount of aluminum from the rear sides of the upper will completely solve the problem, but this is something I'd rather not do myself.
