4 arrested at Maven Hotel, police feared a ‘Las Vegas style shooting' during All-Star Game in Denver

Is it a crime to merely possess guns and ammo in your hotel room? Must be more to the story. Otherwise, smells about as legit of an arrest as someone getting the cops called on him who's shirt flew up in a gust of wind and people caught a glimpse of his belt holstered pistol. 'OMG MAN WITH A GUN!'. Can't have that.

Random side note, that hotel is actually really nice, I stayed there 3 years ago on a business trip and would recommend it for anyone staying in Denver. Careful to mind the yuppies though.

It's a great part of the city, no doubt.

I do hear, though, from a little birdie that that particular hotel's maids can be a little excitable when they see a bunch of guns lying around...

I was never worried about it at the time. Other than I put a cap on my truck. So somebody couldn’t just snatch my guns right from the bed of my truck while I’m taking a shit. With all the shit i used to bring up to the NES shoots, It never even concerned me. Stopping at a hotel always bugged me out though. More worried somebody would steal my entire truck….I used to carry the good shit inside the hotels. But then I ended up with too much good shit to carry….At least when I was wearing a leg brace.

I somehow doubt the hotel staff would’ve appreciated me breaking down all my guns and taking out all the registered components in their parking lot..

Agreed. With the knowledge that shite like this happens, why are persons putting themselves in situations drawing unwanted attention to themselves?

It's expected if you don't put a "privacy please" sign on your room door you can expect housekeeping to come a knocking. And what better way to draw unwanted attention is to lay multiple firearms out on display for anyone who enters.

Granted, maybe they put a sign out and housekeeping entered regardless, the story doesn't say, but I have to wonder about some of these incidents. Often it reads like the persons involved are idiots
A lot of times they will just walk in anyway.
Had that happen once when I was walking out of the shower buck ass naked.
Someone started to fling the door open and I put a shoulder to it , hard.
Knocked that gal ass over teakettle into the hallway.
I did apologize for banging her up , but gave her shit about not caring about the do not disturb sign.

The fact that they are so non specific suggest to me that the popo over played their hand

If this were something spectacular they would have laid it out there as a trophy......kilo's of blow or whatever

Nonetheless they still havent stated the basis for the raid afaict......just cuz someone has guns in a hotel room isnt probable cause

Not defending these folks in any way.....I'm just applying a little slepticism to the basis of raid and/of warrant issued.....would be interesting to see a copy

Felons + loose guns = warrant ez bake oven

I'm skeptical about the reported 16 guns and thousand rounds of ammunition, as well as the body armor. That all came from unnamed sources and I just watched most of the useless police conference by the mayor and police chief. Neither one mentioned any number of guns ammunition or anything else.

All either said besides the see something say something blah blah blah was felon in possession, firearms and drugs seized. No numbers of anyting were divulged.

At least around here if the police seized 16 guns thousand rounds of ammunition body armor and drugs they have a photo op for the media. There was none of that and that makes me suspicious that it wasn't anything like that.

Anytime I travel anywhere to stay in a hotel and bring Firearms they are either on my body or locked up securely. I don't want the housekeeper's boyfriend to come in and steal my stuff. I'm not saying that always happens but there's certainly a possibility.

It sure sounds like a false flag op. Am waiting to opine for more facts to come out. But that might just be crazy optimism, as there may be no facts in the story at all.

So no one's gonna take a potshot at Bryce Harper??? Dang. That guy is a great player but ends up acting like a total crybaby too often. LOL

Except of course the the FBI isn't involved and it was a completely DPD operation. Plus of course the four people arrested have criminal records of one sort or the other. At least two are Prohibited Persons.

Again, other than unnamed sources, no one has given any amounts of guns, ammo, "body armor," money, and drugs seized.

It's sure sounds like typical anti gun media bull shit to me.

Right but the question is how did they get from A to B to Warrant and SWAT raid......

Housekeeping cries "Gunz" and the hotel calls popo who in turn run background checks on whomever room is registered to?

We dont even know if the person the room was registered to was one of the alleged PP's.....allegedly not all of the persons are PP....

There's a lot of squishy/presumed shit on the surface.......on one hand this could have the credibility of a "Swatting"......on the other hand it could be totally legit and they followed a strict/by the book process
Kopsch go to hotel and get registered guest names. They start running shit/digging. Find out some or all are PPs. Even just one or two is enough. Maybe they have nice cell phone pics of guns/ammo from Consuela the maid.

The lead cop brings this shit to judge to get warrant, add in song and dance about "possible turrorism" etc with faceplant post. Judge Fauntleroy Boswell McShitbreath-Pious III signs off on full retard warrants out of an "abundance of caution" . Kopsch have gotten search warrants with dramatically less than that. What is supposed to prevent abuse is really just a formality/speed bump most of the time.

Housekeeping probably notified hotel security. They went in, took pictures and sent them to the cops. A lot of hotel security chiefs are retired police officers, so there are likely good lines of communications.

Most people probably think of The Three Stooges when it comes to hotel security, but larger hotels seem to have a pretty good operation.

"These institutions often operate in plain sight, in office parks or commercial strips, but regulators say they’re difficult to identify."

By "regulators", did they actually mean "regulars"? Because I don't think they're trying that hard.

Depending on where I am, I'll either lock it in the suitcase although that can be stolen, or lock it in my car, or carry it on me.

Cleaning staff usually call their boyfriends to come and steal all the guns they find in hotel rooms. My son learned this the hard way. He foolishly thought his VP40 would be safer in the drawer while he was off with the sales team than in the glovebox of his boss's car.

I have heard that the Venetian has a shoot house on one of their upper floors for their units to train.

Security at the casinos is a whole different level than at non casino hotels.

A friend of mine was banned for life because his then 20 year old daughter played a slot machine and won.

They were taken to the security office and held for a couple of hours. They were then given letters telling them that they would be arrested if they set foot in any MGM facility anywhere.

About four years later he got a letter from them telling him that the trespass notice had been rescinded.

He thought the whole thing was amusing, but apparently they were serious about it. Apparently, it's an arrestable offense in Nevada.

Notice, I said different level, not better, just different.

(That show was a guilty pleasure. Sort of like CSI:MyMammy. Just so bad they were good to watch. It's on some rerun network weekday daytimes. The last snowstorm I found it. Still funny. Best is when they have ancient James Caan fighting. It's in slow freaking motion. LOL)
