Picked this up on the very cheap for the receiver. 1909 is a very low production year for the Gew98, and it is the year my German grandfather was born. Barrel, receiver, sights, trigger, sear, and front trigger screw match. Nothing else matches. Unusual markings on barrel I can't figure out. Barrel doesn't have much life left.
I'm getting more answers on the stock and barrel proofs.
Sad thing is this is worth more in parts than as a complete rifle. I paid $325 shipped; the bolt and stock could fetch almost that much by themselves.
