So, my local shop had a couple of Mauser choices this week. The first was revealed as a K98 Turd. But the next is a Spandau M71/84 which appears unissued - not to be confused with the movie prop guns from "The Last Samurai", which are nicely rebuilt - but this looks like the real deal. Once for the 4th Guards Infantry Regiment.
Just one small spot on top of the barrel where a previous owner got a little carried away with rust removal, otherwise it's a 95-plus% gun. Not enough bandwidth exists on the interweb to photograph all the matching numbers, so I'll need you to trust me on that aspect.
